Hello
and welcome everyone to this week's installment of "IDP Game
Notes" brought to you by IDP Guru staff writer, Johnny Davis. This
column is quickly turning into one of the most comprehensive,
all-encompassing IDP articles anywhere. And it's free!
Raiders @ Chargers
- Oakland
MLB Rolando McClain (3 solo tackles-2 assists, 3 passes defensed) isn’t
tackling like a stud MLB. SLB Kamerion Wimbley (7-0, 4 sacks, PD) had a dream
IDP game. SS Tyvon Branch (5-1) was serviceable. DE Lamarr Houston (0-2, fumble
recovery) fell back into oblivion. FS Michael Huff missed the game with an
ankle injury.
- San Diego
FS Eric Weddle (8-1) racked up the tackles. With OLB Shaun Phillips inactive
with a foot injury and ILB Takeo Spikes (2-1) leaving this game with a concussion,
the Chargers’ other LBs saw plenty of action: OLB Antwan Barnes (6-0, forced
fumble, 1 sack, PD), ILB Donald Butler (6-0), and ILB Na’il Diggs (5-2).
Jaguars @ Colts
-
Jacksonville MLB Paul Posluszny (2-4, int, .5 sack, PD) had a poor tackling game
but made up for it in other areas. SLB Daryl Smith (5-5, .5 sack, PD) remains a
powerhouse. DE Jeremy Mincey (2-3, FF, 2.5 sacks) had a monster game. DE Matt
Roth (4-2) has been making a little noise lately. SS Dawan Landry (4-2, .5
sacks) remains valuable.
- Indy MLB
Pat Angerer (3-4, PD) isn’t racking up the solo tackles quite like he was at
the start of the season. FS Antoine Bethea (1-8) also disappointed in the solo
tackle column. SS David Caldwell (4-7) saw plenty of action. DE Robert Mathis
(2-4, 1 sack) found his way to the QB. SLB Philip Wheeler (2-4) had a down
game.
Redskins @ Dolphins
- Miami ILB
Karlos Dansby (9-1, int, 1 sack, 2 PD) is on fire. ILB Kevin Burnett (5-2, PD)
has shown he can get it done, as well. SS Yeremiah Bell (2-0) had by far his
worst game of the season. OLB Cameron Wake (1-0) barely appeared on the stat
sheet.
- Washington
FS Reed Doughty (9-0) showed he has value as long as O.J. Atogwe is sidelined.
Rookie OLB Ryan Kerrigan (5-1, 2 FF, 2 sacks) continued his reign of terror.
ILB London Fletcher (7-1) has seven or more solo tackles in each of his last
four games. SS LaRon Landry (7-0) had one of his better tackling performances
of the season. ILB Rocky McIntosh got benched and Perry Riley (7-2) started in
his place.
Steelers @ Bengals
- Pittsburgh
OLB James Harrison (2-2) cooled off after a monster return from injury in week
9. Lawrence Timmons (4-1, int, PD) put up better stats back at ILB. ILB James
Farrior (3-3) returned from a calf injury. OLB Lamarr Woodley remained inactive
with a hamstring injury. SS Troy Polamalu (5-1, PD) has been good but not
great.
- Cincy MLB
Rey Maualuga (4-3) returned to action and went right back to underwhelming in
the box score. FS Reggie Nelson (2-3, PD) has cooled after a hot start to the
season. With DE Carlos Dunlap inactive with a hamstring injury, the other
D-linemen got to the QB: DE Frostee Rucker (3-2, 1 sack), DT Domata Peko (0-3,
.5 sack), DE Michael Johnson (0-2, .5 sack, PD), DE Robert Geathers (2-3, 1.5
sacks), and DT Geno Atkins (1-3, 1 sack).
Rams @ Browns
- St. Louis
MLB James Laurinaitis (6-4, 1 sack, PD) keeps on dominating. WLB Chris
Chamberlain (6-1) has been tackling well. DE Chris Long (2-0, 1 sack) got
another sack. DE James Hall (1-0) is struggling with a knee injury. FS Quintin
Mikell (4-1) has cooled off in the tackle department. SS Darian Stewart (3-2)
left with a neck injury.
- Cleveland
SS T.J. Ward is out with a foot injury, so Usama Young (3-2) takes over at SS.
MLB D’Qwell Jackson (5-3) had a quiet game by his standards. Rookie DT Phil
Taylor (4-1, 1 sack) was great, DT Ahtyba Rubin (3-2) was good, and rookie DE
Jabaal Sheard (1-1) was not so great.
Broncos @ Chiefs
- Denver WLB
D.J. Williams (7-2, FF, 1 sack) got back on track after a couple of clunker
games. Rookie SLB Von Miller (4-3, 1.5 sacks) is a playmaker. MLB Joe Mays
(8-0) had a big tackle number out of nowhere. DT Ryan McBean (2-0, 1 sack) has
a sack in three of his last five games. CB Chris Harris (8-0) has been tackling
well lately.
- Kansas
City ILB Derrick Johnson (7-2) got back on track. SS Jon McGraw (2-1) was
active but quiet in the box score. OLB Tamba Hali (2-2) has had two straight
quiet games. ILB Jovan Belcher (8-2) had one of his better games.
Bills @ Cowboys
- Dallas OLB
Demarcus Ware (2-0, 1 sack, PD) sacks QBs, period. ILB Sean Lee (3-1) played
with a cast on his injured hand. CB Terence Newman (2-1, 2 ints, 43-yd int
return TD, 2 PD) took one of his interceptions to the house.
- Buffalo
rookie DT Marcell Dareus (2-0) had a down game. ILB Nick Barnett (3-1)
underwhelmed. FS Jairus Byrd (6-2, FF) had another good game. SS George Wilson
(6-2) put up good numbers but hurt his shoulder.
Cardinals @ Eagles
- Arizona
ILB Daryl Washington (9-0, 1 sack) has been racking up tackles lately. Rookie
CB Patrick Peterson (3-0), surprisingly, did not return a punt for a TD. CB
Richard Marshall (5-1) has been good for tackle production lately. ILB Paris
Lenon (3-0, 1 sack, PD) has value. DE Calais Campbell (2-0, int, PD) swallowed
an interception. Rookie OLB Sam Acho (6-0) continues to put up good numbers in
Joey Porter’s absence.
- Philly SS
Kurt Coleman (8-3) has been a tackling machine the last two games. Rookie
Jaiquawn Jarrett (6-1) got the start with Nate Allen sidelined with a concussion.
DE Trent Cole (4-0, 1 sack) had his best game since returning from injury. MLB
Jamar Chaney (6-0, 1 sack, PD) has put up good numbers in his last three games.
Texans @ Bucs
- Houston
OLB Brooks Reed (1-1, 1 sack, PD) has a sack in four straight games. Rookie DE
J.J. Watt (3-0, .5 sack) continues to show some value. ILB Brian Cushing (8-0,
int, 1 sack, PD) needs more games like this.
- Some
unfamiliar names shined for Tampa Bay, including SLB Adam Hayward (7-1) and DT
Brian Price (5-0, 1 sack). DT Albert Haynesworth (4-1) has a familiar name, but
we’re not used to him shining recently. Rookie MLB Mason Foster (3-2) has been
predictably up and down.
Saints @ Falcons
- New
Orleans SS Roman Harper (10-3, 1 sack, PD) has been hot lately. FS Malcolm Jenkins
(7-1) has been holding his own from time to time. DE Will Smith (0-1) has been
nonexistent the last two games. With MLB Jonathan Vilma out with a knee injury,
the LBs shined: Scott Shanle (7-2, int, PD), Jonathan Casillas (6-1), and
Jo-Lonn Dunbar (4-3, FF).
- It’s
usually not flashy, but the Atlanta LBs are good for tackles every week: MLB
Curtis Lofton (6-3) and WLB Sean Weatherspoon (4-2, PD). With SS William Moore
nursing a quad injury, FS Thomas Decoud (7-0) stepped up.
Titans @ Panthers
- Tennessee
SS Chris Hope (0-0, int, PD) returned and recorded an interception, but Jordan
Babineaux (6-0, 2 PD) got most of the playing time, at least for this game.
With MLB Barrett Ruud out with a shoulder injury, Colin McCarthy (5-3) made the
start. CB Jason McCourty (7-0) remains a valuable tackler.
- Carolina
SLB James Anderson (8-2, PD) returned from the bye with a strong game. WLB Omar
Gaither (7-3) has had two straight good tackling games. SS Charles Godfrey
(6-1) has been tackling well lately. DE Greg Hardy (3-0, 3 PD) has been getting
his hands on lots of passes lately. DE Charles Johnson (0-1) was quiet.
Ravens @ Seahawks
- Seattle SS
Kam Chancellor (2-3, PD) left with a concussion. MLB David Hawthorne (5-2, int,
2 PD) just keeps on tackling fools. WLB Leroy Hill (4-4) did OK. FS Earl Thomas
(7-1, PD) is having a great season.
- Baltimore
MLB Ray Lewis (4-4) has cooled a bit after a hot start to the season. DT Haloti
Ngata (3-8) was in on a lot of plays. SS Bernard Pollard (3-5, FF) has been serviceable.
FS Ed Reed (2-0) hasn’t done much on the fantasy scene lately. DE/OLB Terrell
Suggs (2-5) is capable of a huge game at any moment.
Lions @ Bears
- Chicago
MLB Brian Urlacher (8-1, fumble recovery, PD) has had an inconsistent season,
but the last two games have been solid gold. After a poor week 9, CB Charles
Tillman (5-0, 3 PD, 44-yd int return TD) reminded us that he’s the man. DE
Julius Peppers (3-0, FF, 1 sack, PD) is outstanding. WLB Lance Briggs (7-2) is
still getting it done.
- Detroit’s
LBs had good numbers: MLB Stephen Tulloch (7-0), WLB Deandre Levy (6-0), and
SLB Justin Durant (7-0). DE Cliff Avril (1-0, FF, 1 sack) is getting to the QB
this season. DT Ndamukong Suh (3-0, PD) is unreliable.
Giants @ 49ers
- It’s
almost like San Fran ILBs Patrick Willis (9-2, 1 sack) and Navorro Bowman
(11-4) are having an awesome contest and no one is losing. DE Justin Smith
(5-1, PD) had a huge pass knockdown to seal the win. Rookie OLB Aldon Smith
(0-2) hasn’t done much the last two weeks. CB Carlos Rogers (5-1, 2 ints, 2 PD)
has five interceptions on the year.
- New York
DE Jason Pierre-Paul (2-0) failed to get a sack in a game for only the second
time this season. DE Osi Umenyiora (2-0, 1 sack, PD) found his way to the QB,
while DE Justin Tuck (0-0, PD) just sucked. SLB Mathias Kiwanuka (3-1) cooled
off after a hot stretch. WLB Michael Boley (2-1) left with a hamstring injury.
Patriots @ Jets
- If you
look up “beast” in the dictionary, you find a picture of New England DE Andre
Carter (5-1, 4.5 sacks) sacking Mark Sanchez in this game. James Ihedigbo (7-0)
started at SS with Patrick Chung inactive with a foot injury. Jeff Tarpinian
(3-1) started at MLB with Brandon Spikes nursing a knee injury. WLB Jerod Mayo
(5-0) may be creeping toward his old self again. SLB Rob Ninkovich (4-1, 2
ints, 2 PD, 12-yd int return TD) had a game to remember.
- New York
SS Eric Smith (5-2) and ILB David Harris (5-1) were about the only things close
to fantasy value dressed in green during this game.
Vikings @ Packers
- Green Bay
CB Charles Woodson (8-1, 3 PD) is just ridiculously good. ILB Desmond Bishop
(6-2, 1 sack, PD) is about as consistent as they come. FS Morgan Burnett (2-4,
PD) has officially broken my heart. SS Charlie Peprah (2-4, PD) had the exact
same numbers as Burnett. OLB Clay Matthews (4-1, FF, 2 sacks) was monstrous.
- Same old
script for Minnesota: DE Jared Allen (6-1, 1 sack) puts up outstanding fantasy
numbers, SLB Chad Greenway (7-1) gets a bunch of tackles, and everyone else
underwhelms.
