2017 Tackles Issued by Home Stat Crews (Through Week 17)

A major difference between offense only Fantasy Football and IDP Fantasy Football is the subjectivity of the stat keeping. On the offensive side of the ball, a 10-yard catch is a 10-yard catch. However, on the defensive side of the ball, things become a bit less clear. For example, two defensive players get to the ball-carrier at roughly the same time. Who gets the solo tackle and who gets the assist? Or do both players only get an assist? Or does only one player get a solo? There are multiple options in these scenarios and different scorekeepers have different tendencies (right or wrong). Analyzing each home stat crew's tendencies will better allow us to make informed lineup decisions.

The main chart listed below ranks home stat crews according to their generosity in issuing tackles (from greatest to least). The ranking is calculated based upon the total tackles issued per tackle opportunity when compared to the league average but takes into account solo tackles being worth 2:1 to that of assisted tackles. A color key is listed next to the actual chart for your reference.

This article will be updated every Wednesday during the regular season to reflect the most up-to-date tackles issued. However, stat crews rarely change their tendencies over the course of the season and thus the trends that we witness early in the season are likely to remain for the entirety of the season.

NOTE: The data is being displayed on the site using an embedded Google Document. Some readers may have issues viewing the tables depending on a myriad of different of factors (e.g. browser, device, method of viewing). This said I've made the data available in downloadable spreadsheet and PDF form as well. See the download links below.

***London/Mexico City games are excluded from the data set as team's don't utilize their own stat crew in the international games. For reference, however, the London stat team is perhaps the most solo tackle heavy crew in the entire NFL.

The highest ranked teams in the solo colum (e.g. Giants).

According to this chart would Kwon be a bad play for 1 point solo tackle in a STND league? Even with David out? Zero points for assisted tackles.

Definitely makes him less appealing as Carolina stat crew is the stingiest in the league in terms of handing out solo tackles. And it looks like David may play this week.

Also, when asking for weekly matchup advice please mention the weekly opponent for each player you are listing. This helps me answer questions more quickly.
In addition, always list your scoring system as my advice will differ depending on the type of system being used.
