2016 Weekly IDP Rankings: Week 13

These are The IDP Guru's Weekly IDP Rankings. This page will be updated each week to reflect that current week's rankings.

Make sure to Follow Me on Twitter. This is the best place to ask for waiver wire/lineup advice!

ECR stands for Expert Consensus Ranking and is the aggregated average ranking across all experts who submit their rankings to FantasyPros.com. Looking in the vs. ECR column will tell you which players I am higher (+) or lower (-) on then the rest of the IDP "expert" community.

Clicking on a specific player will allow you to view the specific rankings of all other IDP experts and how those compare to my own. Additionally, you have the ability to view recent news and notes on that specific player.

Guru, I noticed Mychal Kendricks was left off of the list. Is this due to the signing of Tulloch? I waited on LB's' and ended up with M.Kendricks, M.Smith, K.Wright, A.Barr. In a 2point solo 1 point assist tackle heavy league, should I drop any for the upside of B.Martinez or D.Jones?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@steve bailey
He's not listed a starter on the team's depth chart, so I wouldn' trust playing him this week.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Eric Hamilton
On second thought, I added him in. However, he's in the high 40s for me. He hasn't been playing in subpackages and seems to be in the doghouse with the coaching staff. I like Martinez and I'd probably drop Barr if I had to choose today. But if my suspicions about Kendricks turn out to be true after Week 1, he'd be the guy I drop.

Ryan Bartman said...

For my last linebacker in a 3 point for solo, 1 point for assist league, would you start Kirksey or Myles Jack for this first week? Thank you!

Luis Martinez said...

He is listed in the official website as the starting SS. They have an odd depth chart that has the D in a 4-2-5 set??

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Ryan Bartman
Kirksey

Jny555 said...

Avery Williamson seems to be ranked very low... Isn't he poised for a huge game with lots of opportunities for tackles since Vikings are presumably going to be running a lot? Why is someone like Demario Davis ranked significantly higher? (Both players are every down players against teams that will run)

Generation NYC said...

Have Levy and Mosley starting for LB in my 16 team IDP league. Have Compton and Deion Jones on my bench. Would you drop either Compton or Jones for Kiko Alonso? Thanks.

Unknown said...

I am in a league that has Mark Barron as both Safety and Linebacker. Where would you rank him as a DB?

Ben Strauss said...

Have an extra roster spot and looking for a speculative add that could help down the line. Noah Spence or Jarquiski Tartt

Unknown said...

I'm not sure if it's something on my end but I remember last year on your rankings it would show who's available in my league but it's not showing that on this list. Am I not logged in to something correctly? Thanks for your help and for all the work you do on this site.

Need to start 2 of 3: Su'a Cravens, Lardarius Webb (BAL), Rafael Bush (DET). Cravens is not listed as a starter, yet the ECR loves him. Bush is a long-term gamble for me (with your listing him as a deep sleeper), but maybe not the starter at this point.

So, who would you sit out of those 3? Thanks Ryan.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Jny555
I do like the matchup for Williamson and I think that's reflected in his #35 overall ranking. He's too inconsistent tackle-wise for my liking to be an every week starter. Davis on the other hand plays on a defense that is going to be on the field ALL Day and Philly (like Minnesota) is going to run a lot with a rookie QB at the helm. Linebacker is really deep this year so #35 ranking is actually pretty good.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Unknown
I honestly didn't know that was a feature last year. I use FantasyPros for my rankings platform, so I'm dependent on them for how things operate. Perhaps if you click on the available players link in the upper right hand corner that will do the trick once you login?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Ben Strauss
I like Tartt more short-term and Spence more long-term (2017).

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Patrick
I'd sit Bush as he is not the starting heading into Week 1 (kind of a surprise). Everyone loves Cravens but he needs to establish consistent playing time before moving up in my ranks.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@steve bailey
I'd switch to Nelson.

Steven said...

Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering if fantasy pros changed something on their end then. Also the available players link just takes me to my dashboard on fantasy pros, not the available players tab. Again, I don't think this is anything with you or your site, I'm pretty sure it's something fantasy pros might have changed.

Devin A said...

Chandler Jones or Jabaal Sheard at DL2?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Generation NYC
That's a tough call as I have my doubts about Kiko but he figures to be a better play than Jones early on because Jones isn't likely to see every down snaps right now. That said, since it's a bench spot I would keep it as is for now.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Devin A
Chandler Jones

BMCD said...

I have Campbell and C Jordan as my 1 & 2 DE starters. Wolfe on bench...didn't do much last night. Should I pick up one of the following and drop Wolfe or stick with him on my bench for awhile. FA choices...Wake, Malik Jackson, D Taylor, Liuget or Barwin??? I was thinking D Taylor, but I don't really know anything about him. At times I know Wolfe was strong last year...need your advice. Thanks...and thanks for you help on my other questions!

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@steve bailey
Berry

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@BMCD
We need to see how those guys perform in Week 1 before making a decision but I love Taylor's upside. Barwin has decent upside as well. Wake will be rotational to star the year. Liuget is solid but no ceiling at this point. And I think Jackson is due for a bit of regression.

Jny555 said...

Hey Ryan, I'm in a league where Mark Barron still qualifies as a DB. Would you start him at DB vs. San Fran, or go with Reggie Nelson vs. the Saints... I typically find LBs more consistent due to the ability to rack up tackles, but the Saints will likely be throwing a lot. So Barron v. Nelson? And where would you view Barron as a DB over the season?

Harry H said...

Any thoughts on Sean Davis?

David Van Holt said...

Bring that I have 2 DL(Fletcher Cox & K.Mack), I'd like to drop one DL and add an LB. On my league, NYG Kelvin Sheppard is projected decent numbers in week 1 vs CBoys. Sheppards last game vs the same team made 14 combined tackles. Do I think he can produce similar numbers on a new team. Both his new and old teams run similar defensive schemes. What do you think I should do?

woj326 said...

On a 1 point solo tackle plus bonus for 10 or more tackles league. Only 2 points for sack,fumble,etc. I have Quinn,Donaldson,Wilkerson and Ezekiel can play any 4 positional players. Wish it was a big play league.. Thinking of switching out for LBs due to scoring favoring tackles more consistently. Anthony, Hicks, Minter and Dansby are available. What are your thoughts? Should I change my DLs to LBs?

D.Davis or J. March need one of waiver wire in dynasty?

Ben Strauss said...

Anything to say about David Bruton? He's top 35 in Fantasypros overall rankings. Debating him or Prince Amukamura for DB4.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Jny555
Start Barron. Top 5 DB for me ROS.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Harry H
Golden is currently starting, so Davis won't have much value to start. Think he gets a shot later in the year so definitely a player to keep in the memory bank.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@David Van Holt
I definitely wouldn't drop a DL. Those are both top 10 at their position. Sheppard isn't likely to play every down. I'm avoiding the NYG LB situation until we can hopefully get a sense of who/if anyone is going to be valuable there.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@woj326
In that scoring system, yes I would favor LBs over DLs. Problem is I'm not high on anyone except Dansby this week.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Harry H
Davis

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Ben Strauss\
Had him as deep sleeper heading into the season. Some risk there this week as I don't know how Cravens will fit in. Solid DB4 though.

16 team IDP league. 2pt tackle 3pt sack 1pt pass def. What is your opinion on the poor showing yesterday by the following players: (aka my entire IDP squad ha) CJ Mosley/DeAndre Levy/Malik Jackson/Eric Weddle? Should I hold fast or start cutting ties early? Thanks.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Generation NYC
Wrote about most of those guys in my WW article this week. It's only Week 1. Don't panic!

I'm not sure how you posted BUSTS/DUDS without spitting Malcolm Jenkins out, unless didn't grab early and start this week like me lol !!!! His 1 solo tackle against THE CLEVELAND BROWNS,I think was one of top busts of the week!!!! But will be ok...I hope lol

217 KING ... ;) said...

@BMCD
Think if Suh or Mario do ANYTHING to get coverage off Wake, he could be HUGE,WEEKLY!!! But that being said,Suh is still averaging $25 million dollars a sack lol

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@217 KING ... ;)
I avoided Jenkins in all my drafts. Was due for a good amount of regressions with healthy linebackers and departure of Chip Kelly.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Chris Harris
I think his stat line was an aberration. I'd stick with Short.

Unknown said...

Hola Ryan. Love the sight. I have Shazier, Kendricks, and Ferryman as my LB. We play 2 in our league and it's pretty balanced between tackles and big plays, maybe slightly skewed to big plays. Which 2 of the 3 LBs do you like this week and more importantly, for the rest of the season? Thanks

Unknown said...

I see you are +7 on Posluszny... I was considering dropping him for Deone Bucannon, thoughts?

Daniel Cairns said...

Would you drop Jordan Hicks for Perryman?

El llanero solitario said...

Thanks for your work! This site is awesome. One question, I have Jerry Hughes as a DL in my league, Is he a starter this week? Better than Stephon Tuitt or Preston Smith (DL dessignation also). Greetings from Spain :-)

Would you start Heeney or Kirksey for Week 2 Ryan? Thanks!

Clyde C. said...

James Laurinaitis or Sio Moore to start?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Clyde C.
According to my rankings above, Moore.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Daniel Cairns
I see them as about the same. Lateral move.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Unknown
Lateral move. Wouldn't fault you either way.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Unknown
Heeney

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Unknown
Shazier and Perryman for both.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@El llanero solitario
Yes. I like Hughes the most even though Tuitt has a nice matchup on paper.

Lennon Brooks said...

So thankful for the work you do on IDPs, you are truly one of the best resources available. My question concerns Mark Barron as a DB in a yahoo league. I see from the comments that you regarded him top 5 prior to week one. Does his poor showing wk. 1 change your opinion at all? I'm worried that Ogletree being back limits his upside severely, and now looks like TJ McDonald took some tackles as well. Morgan Burnett is on waivers. Still high on Barron? Prefer him over your #3 DB Burnett? Thanks for the help.

Lennon Brooks said...

Didn't read the rules below until I posted. Scoring weighs tackles and big plays fairly evenly. And my question is more ROS than weekly matchup based so won't list opponents. Thanks again, you're the man.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Lennon Brooks
He's top 10ish for me. But I would start Burnett over him.

Barry said...

What do you think of Jadeveon Clowney ? He was finally moved to his natural DE position, played almost as much as JJ Watt, had a good first game... i'm surprise he doesn't even get a mention in your rankings.

Harry H said...

Hick vs Chi or Foster vs Dal

patsfan said...

Who would you take ROS, bethea or mcdonald? I think it's a coin flip but mcdonald might have more big play upside.
1.5 and 1 for tackles
5 for INTs and SCKs
3 for TFLs

Jny555 said...

This week and long term: James Laurinaitis, Will Compton, and Craig Robertson. (Tackle-heavy scoring)

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Barry
I'd argue that 5-technique DE isn't his natural position. He's classified as a LB in the platform I use so that's why he's not ranked. As a DE, he's top 20.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Harry H
Hicks

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@patsfan
McDonald

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Jny555
Compton, Robertson, James L.
Long-term: Compton, James L., Robertson

Madwabbit said...

I'm in a tackle/sack heavily favored scoring system. Have Jamie collins, Jordan Hicks, Karlos Dansby, Danielle Hunter. Demarcus Ware, Craig Robertson, Laurinitis all on wire. I start 2. Best this week? ROS?

My starting DB's are Reshard Jones and Chris Conte. Waiver wire DB's right now are Rodney McLeod, Reggie Nelson, DeAngelo Hall, Da'Norris Searcy, Eric Berry and injured Sam Shields and Orlando Scandrick. I don't see McLeod in your rankings and I am leaning towards Nelson, but what are your thoughts about replacing Conte with one of them? Thanks

@Adam Rabinowitz
Top 10ish

Lennon Brooks said...

I see that you are -10 on Eric Kendricks. Why the downgrade v. ECR? I'm looking for a replacement for D'Qwell Jackson in a league that values tackles and big plays similarly. Kendricks seemed like a good replacement but also have guys like Posluszny, Will Compton, Von Miller and Preston Brown available. Not so sure now after seeing your rankings! Thanks as always.

Uy said...

Keanu Neal return to practice today. Assuming he starts, how would you rank him among DBs? I currently have his replacement, Kemal Ishmael, starting.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Lennon Brooks
Stat lines of 5-1 and 3-2 aren't overly impressive to me. Stats are inflated because of INT for Defensive TD. I'd go with Posluszny.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Uy
Not sure I'd feel comfortable starting him until we know he will play every down.

Soulfulgrooves said...

Landon Collins or Tony Jefferson this week and ROS? I feel like Jefferson could give me more tackle updside.

Also

Suh vs Kessler/Browns or Leonard Williams, C.Dunlap for my DL spot?

Thanks so much!

Gary VanDyke said...

I'm confused why Pitts Golden just gets no love. Dude is all over the place and in as a SS/LBer on passing downs. What does a guy got to do?

Ninja Man said...

I have 2 LBs & one D positions, Right now I'm starting Posluszny and Malcolm Smith in the LBs, then Reggie Nelson in the D. On the bench i have L Timmons and D Buccannon. I usually started Buccannon in the D, but he's only given me 9 and 7 pts where Nelson has given me 11.25 & 16.5. Should i play Bucannon another week to see or keep Nelson in. What would your lineup be with what i listed? (1.5/Solo, .75 Ast, 1 pt bonus each for sack a TFL)

Unknown said...

I have harrison smith. I see that you are still high on him. I'm losing faith since he is always in coverage. I need tackles in my league and a consistent total each week. Should I drop for barron?

Unknown said...

I heard Keanu Neal returned to practice, do you think thats going to knock Kemal Ismael's value down this week or do you expect Keanu Neal to not get much playing time as he is just returning from injury?

Also, how is Morgan Burnett's hamstring doing? Is he even going to play this week?

Greg Smith said...

Reggie Nelson is available too. So it's Nelson, Barron or harrison smith. Thoughts?

J.P Wellborn said...

Should I keep starting Justin March who had a significant dip in snaps played in Wk2 or should I start Gerald Hodges who should get a boost in playing time with Ray Ray Armstrong being out and placed on IR?

David Van Holt said...

I wouldn't choose Nelson. Being the ball hog that he is,He gets INT's but he's not a high tackle guy.

Joseph Hill said...

? Nelson has 17 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles and no picks this year so far. I'd say he is a tackle guy so far

Greg Smith said...

Patrick McFadden said...

Is it just me or is Linval Joseph way under ranked here?

Patrick McFadden said...

Is it just me or is Linval Joseph way under ranked here?

J.P Wellborn said...

He definitely belongs in the 10-15 rank range. Look at the stats, a sack in each game with 5 and 6 tackles in both games. Linval's my DL2 going forward. Maybe he's under ranked because he falls under the fat DT "Clog the middle" stereotype oppose to the semi-athletic DE, but the difference is Linval looks for and makes tackles too, he should be ranked higher than Kawann Short for sure.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Harry H
Foster

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Soulfulgrooves
Collins and Dunlap

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Unknown
Burnett is out. Neal will start and likely share snaps with Ishmael so neither one is really worth starting this week.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Greg Smith
I like the consistency of Barron as a DB (since he's playing LB).

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@J.P Wellborn
I like the upside of Hodges more.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Ninja Man
I'd go with Nelson over Deone Bucannon

Tyler Treadway said...

I know it's early but I have the option to grab Jabaal Sheard, Carlos Dunlap, Robert Quinn, or Calais Campbell off my waiver wire for week 4. Who do you think is the best option for week 4 and are there any others outside this list I should be looking at? Appreciate it

Unknown said...

I'd sit Bush. Cravens isn't a starter, but could see an uptick in snaps with D. Hall out for the season. Webb is the best of the 3.

Alan Dalhed said...

For my lb3 and flex, which two between Orr, Avery Williamson, Cristian kirksey, or Sean weatherspoon? Love your site by the way.

David Van Holt said...

I like Orr. It seems that he's around every splash play the defense makes. He's outplaying C.J. Mosley in a small sample size which says alot cuz C.J. is a beast and a tackle magnet as well.

Lance Simpkins said...

Trying to decide on Burfict or Weatherspoon as my LB4 for week 4. What's your thoughts?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Alan Dalhed
Weatherspoon and Orr. Although I think Williamson has more upside this week in his matchup, if you want to go risky/are an underdog.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Lance Simpkins
I'd go with Weatherspoon this week (assuming Campbell is still out).

James Maloney said...

how are you ranking the return of Elvis Dumervil?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@James Maloney
Not all that high. Will likely be on some sort of snap count and doesn't possess much value outside of big play leagues. LB4.

Ninja Man said...

(1.5 for Tackles & .75 for Asst Tackles, 1 pt bonus each for TFL and Sacks) I have 2 LB spots and a D spot. I have Weatherspoon @ Car, M. Smith @ Bal, T. Davis @ Atl, Posluszny @ Ind, Timmons @ KC, R. Nelson @ Bal, or J. Brown @ NO. How would you fill the 3 spots?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Ninja Man
I'd refer to my rankings above as the scoring system I base them on is essentially the same.

canhof94 said...

I don't see Lamarcus Joyner or Casey Hayward on your DB rankings. With losses of Breeland and Burnett, I picked these two up. They both have great matchups (Hayward vs Saints) & (Joyner vs Cardinals). Your thoughts on these guys? Thanks
1 pt all tackles 2 pts sack & int 1 pt PD

Ben Strauss said...

Need 4 of Mckinney, Collins, Barron, Perryman and Wagner.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Ben Strauss
I'd sit McKinney

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@canhof94
I like Joyner this week, Hayward I would consider more of a wide variance CB2.

Unknown said...

Jordan Hicks has been a bust so far this year. Will Compton is available in my league. Should I drop hicks and pick up Compton?

Tyler Treadway said...

For week 5 I'm looking for a DL. On my waiver wire Dunlap, Sheard, and Donald are all available. Who do you recommend and why? Is there anyone outside of these three I should look at?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Giovanni Perone
Wolfe and Vernon

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Unknown
Yes, I would make that move.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Tyler Treadway
I'd go with Dunlap. The most consistent of the three with nice upside. Donald is a great NFL player and good fantasy player but doesn't get as many opps playing on the interior. Sheard is solid but doesn't have the upside of Dunlap IMO.

rylan said...

If Nick Bellore, as i suspect, is the Mike backer in the 3-4 in SF, not Whilhoite.. then would he not be the one set up for all the tackles? I think maybe Bellore is the top 25 backer this week. Looking for another opinion, thanks.

Wesley Cure said...

Darron Lee or Dont'a Hightower this week?

Dustin Catlett said...

If Shazier doesn't play where would you rank Williams?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Dustin Catlett
I don't think Shazier is going to play so I've replaced him with Williams. He's in the LB3+ range.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Wesley Cure
Hightower. Lee is still splitting time with Henderson.

Uy said...

For my flex position in a tackle friendly league, would you go with Anthony Barr or TJ Ward?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Uy
Ward

Uy said...

LaRoy Reynolds is getting the nod to start as the Falcons MLB. Is he worth a look at my flex position? I took your advice and currently have Ward at that flex position, but would much prefer a LB there if you think he could put up decent tackle numbers. Thanks.

Ben Strauss said...

better pivot for Perryman
Hightower,Keenan Robinson, or one of perryman's backups

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Ben Strauss
hightower

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Uy
Yeah, I would put Reynolds there. More upside.

James said...

Most sites have T. Smith ranked higher than Poz this week, why is that? Thanks.

dave said...

Eric Weddle Really? Scheme, stat keeper and player all trending horribly. Why is he still atop your rankings? B/c he was once a charger :)?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@James
A slightly more consistent tackler especially when it comes to solo tackles and there are playing in Chicago where the stat crew essentially only gives out solo tackles.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@dave
I wrote about my concerns with Weddle in this week's column. However, he plays the Giants this week who have given up the 2nd most points to safeties so far this season and have the most generous stat crew in the league by far. Additionally, CJ Mosley may not play which would create a lot more opportunity for Weddle. Lastly, DB depth is thin and there aren't a lot of guys I trust so going with Weddle as a mid to low range DB2 is the right move in my eyes.

Mornhir said...

I'm curious on your thoughts on Yannick Ngakoue from Jax against Chi this week, as he's not even listed in your DL rankings for this week. He's not the starter on the depth chart, yet he's playing the majority of defensive snaps (more than Fowler, the listed starter ahead of him), has a sack and a forced fumble in each the past three games. Is it just that he's gotten less tackles or am I missing something?

Mornhir said...

@Mornhir

Though maybe it's a positional thing. He's listed as a DE on ESPN Fantasy, but fantasypros has him listed as a LB, is that how you're ranking him?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Mornhir
Yes, I use FantasyPros platform to build my rankings so limited to their classifications. I think he's a strong DL2.

John Spencer said...

Vontaze Burfict - is he not playing in pass situations? Or is that just bc he's getting his feet back? Do you think he's a strong play against a pass happy patriots team this week? Thanks.

Hector Masalawala said...

Are the Week 6 LB rankings not showing up for anyone else today?

DLs & DBs works fine, but not LBs for some reason.

T V said...

League points are 4 points for a solo, 1 point for an assist. Need to start 2 of the following 5. Telvin Smith @ Chi, Tahir Whitehead vs. Rams, Vince Williams (if Shazier is still out) @ Miami. Or could pick up Kirksey @ Ten. Or What about Zach Orr @ Giants with possibly no Mosely?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@John Spencer
He's playing in passing situations. He sat out a series or two as the Cowboys were up big and he looked like he got the wind knocked out of him at one point.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@T V
I'd go Telvin and Tahir. Williams has a bad matchup, Kirksey doesn't have as much upside. Orr could be sneaky upside if Mosley is out but not sure if that will be the case or not yet.

What is the thinking behind Neal being in the #3 spot on your DB rankings?

Matt Howard said...

@Defense Wins

I was wondering the same thing! You have Neal ranked a LOT higher than any other ranking I've seen both for the week and the season. I picked him up to start in place of Harrison Smith this week based on your projection. What's the thinking there? I have a guy wanting Smith. If Neal is really expected to be that good I may pull the trigger....

watso059 said...

Guru, on the yahoo platform, Jadaveon Clowney now has a DE/LB characterization. I wouldn't ever use him as a LB, but how do you feel about him as a DE for the rest of the season? What tier would you place him in? Note: You said he is top 20 back in September on this comment thread. Thanks for all the work you do! I love the site! Have been using it for the past few years!

Any analysis re: short term & ROS for Sheldon Richardson vs. DeForest Buckner in tackle-heavy scoring? E.g., Consistency, Floors, Ceilings... (Note: Your DL ROS rankings aren't currently loading, but the others are.)

Jny555 said...

Any reason you're down on Dont'a Hightower vs. Pittsburgh this week? He finally looked pretty healthy last week and had a monster game... Shouldn't he have lots of tackle opportunities (maybe even a sack or 2) given that Pittsburgh will likely been running all day without Big Ben, and Landry Jones is terrible? I was planning on adding him from WW (dropping KJ Wright) and shifting my defense around to accommodate the match-up... Am I missing something?

Jny555 said...

@Jny555

Note: I could also drop D'Qwell Jackson (vs Tennessee) for Hightower if you find that more palatable... Just figured that Jackson's match-up vs. run-heavy and short-passing titans was appealing.

Hi,
I see Everson Griffen ranked 5th. Other than a 3 sack performance in week 3, he has done nothing in any other game. He was not in the top 30 in weeks 1 and 2 and not in the top 50 since week 3. I have cut him and replaced him with Linval Joseph who has outscored Griffen in every game other than week 3. In week 3 he only lost ny 1 point in our league.
1 point all tackles
2 points sack

Does Griffen (Not in our league's top 35) have to retire to get ranked outside of the top 10?

Hi,

I have to start 3 LBs between Chandler Jones, Mason Foster, Nick Bellore, Avery Williamson.

I still have in the top 20 range as the injury concerns but a slight damper on his value.

DL ROS rankings are now loading. Richardson has a much richer history so I give him the edge but Buckner made a big jump up my rankings. He's the real deal. They are closer than you would think but I would still go with Richardson as he has been consistent for a longer time and has a better surrounding cast to keep him free of double teams.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Jny555
His value is completely contingent upon the status and health of Jamie Collins. If Collins remains out, Hightower will shoot up dramatically. Just hard to tell as the Patriots are super shady with their injury reports. Plus, we've seen this from Hightower before only to see him turn back into a pumpkin. I would stick with Jackson.

To be fair, there are several examples of "elite" DLs that have had similar production lines. That's just the nature of DLs. Their sacks often come in bunches - that's why I always advocate sticking with your studs at the position. Joseph is solid but has limited upside being a pretty much a straight tackle guy. So although he may be betting Griffen in points now, I'd be willing to bet Griffen bests him by year's end (in balanced scoring) as it only takes another big game like he had in Week 3.

I think the main issue here is your scoring system is pretty tackle heavy which makes Joseph more valuable and Griffen less. I base my rankings on balanced scoring.

Please refer to rankings above.

Ryan, what is going on with Denzil Perryman? Is he not getting snaps because he has not scored well. I had him but I dropped him because his counter-part (Brown) seems to be getting all the tackles. Thanks Ryan!

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Darryle Moody
I think the SD coaching staff doesn't think he's all that good. He's more of a knock your socks off run thumper and they don't trust him in coverage. The injury didn't help matters. That said, Brown is the player to own and has quickly turned into the type of fantasy player I projected Perryman to be entering the season.

I see CJ Mosley is out, Albert McClellan is the guy to have right? I saw on CBS that Kamalei Correa is getting the start. Any insight?

Thanks

JJ

Ezekiel Ansah is sitting in our FA pool. He scored 5 points in week 1, and 0 in week 2 (assuming because he got hurt) then he was dropped by his owner. He got 2 points last week. Is he really worth picking up? Seems stupid to ask, but there are others that have done much better in the games they've played. I guess I'm wondering if he may be overrated? You have him ranked high, but he's done nothing in the games he's played in....

Ryan, I have great problem. On my "D", I have Burfict, K. Alexander, J. Collins, for LBs and DBs K. Neal, K. Joseph, & M. Burnett. The problem is I have to sit one of these players. Which player would you sit this week out of the 6 players? Thanks Ryan!

Darryle Moody said...

Ryan, sorry for double dipping but I have a decision to make. I have a CB position to fill - Do you think Breeland will play Sunday or should I go with K. Fuller? Any update on Breeland's ankle injury?

Unknown said...

Which LB And DB do i start this week, Jatav Brown or Vont Burfucit. Tony Jefferson or Morgan Burnett?? 1-4 tackles 0 points 5-9 % points, 10-15 7 points

5-9 5 POINTS ******

Unknown said...

Hightower or Hicks this week?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Darryle Moody
I'd probably sit Burfict.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Matt Howard
All that's true but he's been injured for most of the season. When healthy, he's a clear cut top 5 DL option. Depends on who you have on your roster, but he's worth owning in most situations.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Darryle Moody
He practiced in full and looks to be good to go for Sunday morning.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Unknown
Hicks

glad i dropped him for mcleod and m barron as my other db

Why is CJ Mosley ranked so high against the steelers? They hardly give up points to LBs. I have Avery Williamson this week since the Chargers give up so many points. Should I drop him for CJ?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@I Was Dared
Injured and not playing this week. Sorry!

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Unknown
Not expecting much. DL4 at most. He had the one good year and really hasn't done much since.

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@steeler84
I figure they will run more with Big Ben banged up. Plus, Mosley has largely been matchup independent throughout his career. Given the lack of depth, he's higher than he typically would be coming off injury but he gets helped with the bye week last week. I see Williamson in a similar tier, so wouldn't see much of a difference in starting him over Mosley.

J.P Wellborn said...

DeForrest Buckner should be ranked higher since he plays an average of 70 snaps Per game 10-15 more than most of your listed DTs. I can understand Dareus based on matchup but Buckner's gotta be ahead of Linval and Casey for sure. Fletcher Cox shouldn't even be in the top20 based on this seasons production

Hector Montes Mendez said...

Would you drop Danny Trevathan for Elandon Roberts?

Ryan Sitzmann said...

@Hector Montes Mendez
I would. Trevathan doesn't present a ton of upside right now and is on bye whereas Roberts could be big if he gets a full complement of snaps.
