2016 IDP Points Allowed By Position (Through Week 17)

Knowing which teams give up the most fantasy points to certain defensive positions is vital to the long-term success of any IDP owner. Having this type of information will allow you to make those tough weekly lineup decisions as well as spot key weekly waiver wire pickups throughout the season.

This article will be updated each week to reflect the average total points allowed by each NFL team to Defensive Ends, Defensive Tackles, Linebackers, Cornerbacks, and Safeties up until that particular point in the season. To start the 2016 season, these stats will be based upon 2015 points allowed. Starting at the beginning of Week 2, we will begin revising this document with up-to-date 2016 statistics.

***It's important to note that I usually like to wait at least three to four weeks before I start "trusting" this data as too much variance in the numbers can occur in the initial regular season weeks.

The chart below was generated using the following IDP scoring system:

Solo Tackle = 1.5 pts
Assist = 0.75 pts
Sack = 4 pts
FF = 4 pts
FR = 3 pts
INT = 6 pts
PD = 1.5 pts
Defensive TD = 6 pts

NOTE: The data is being displayed on the site using an embedded Google Document. Some readers may have issues viewing the tables depending on a myriad of different of factors (e.g. browser, device, method of viewing). This said, I've made the data available in downloadable spreadsheet and PDF form as well. See the download links below.

What do you know about Jatavis Brown's timeline for return? Can't find anything about it and thinking of picking up Toomer to replace him this week

Typically when you see a lack of information plus not practicing, it's not good. Given he's out again already this week, I wouldn't be surprised if he's out next week as well.

Looking to start Khalil Mack or Telvin Smith this week..

@Jason Marshall
Mack if you are an underdog and Smith if you are a favorite.

Thanks. Projection is 129 vs 131 with Mack and 135 vs 131 with Telvin.

I Have N.Suh should i drop for Melvin Ingram or Calais Cambell? And LB I have Telvin Smith, B. McKinney, and C.J Mosley i need to drop one to free up for another position. Any advice is welcome and Thanks guru awesome site!

Ryan Sitzmann said...

Yes, I'd drop him for Ingram. Tough call on the LBs. Depends on scoring but I'd say Mckinney in balanced/tackle heavy. Otherwise, Telvin if it's more big play slanted.
