2015 Defensive Coordinators and Schemes

This article will be updated throughout the off-season and contains valuable information pertaining to NFL defensive schemes and coaching changes for the 2015 Season. When selecting an IDP, it is important to not only know what position they play, but also the defensive scheme they play in as well.

For example, outside linebackers in 3-4 schemes generally produce higher sack totals/lower tackle totals than outside linebackers that play in 4-3 schemes. Cornerbacks that play on defenses that incorporate a lot of Cover 2/Tampa 2 looks typically generate above average tackle numbers relative to their position.

Here are the current situations around the NFL:

BASE DEFENSES
4-3:
CAR, CHI, CIN, DAL, DEN, DET, JAX, MIA, MIN, NYG, OAK, SEA, SF, STL, TB
*3-4: ATL, ARZ, GB, IND, HOU, KC, NO, NYJ, PHI, PIT, SD, TEN, WAS
Multiple Front: BAL, BUF, CLE, NE

*Most 3-4 teams are mainly using a 1-gap system, although there are still a few teams using a 2-gap system.

Anything in RED is a change from the 2014 season.

What are your thoughts on Borland next year? Is he gonna get bumped to the outside LB position, or do you think he's earned the inside job? I've got him in my dynasty league. Should I hang onto him, or trade him high while I can?

Borland may have to wait to get totally in the mix as a 3 down LB in SF, but in a dynasty league, he proved what he can do by stuffing the stat sheet every week. He is a hold because I can't see anyone overpaying for him knowing that Willis and Bowman are still around and if he heads outside, the numbers will not look the same.

Love this site. How do you see the value of these 2 guys I own in my dynasty league going forward?

Demario Davis - Does new coaching staff help or hurt? He he still an every dowm guy?

Telvin Smith - Was his strong finish only a product of poslusny being out or will he have similar value next season?

I don't see Davis' value changing a ton. I'd rather own Smith. Posluszny is there to stay, but he's not getting any younger and I think Smith will be a three-down player in 2015.

Also, when asking for weekly matchup advice please mention the weekly opponent for each player you are listing. This helps me answer questions more quickly.
In addition, always list your scoring system as my advice will differ depending on the type of system being used.

Lastly, please don't duplicate the same exact post on other pages. We get notified of all comments that are posted and we will make sure to answer questions as quickly as we can. Posting the same question multiple times on different pages just slows the whole process down for everyone.
