2011 IDP Stockwatch: Week 14

Written By: Bill Edwards

Hello and welcome to this season-long series for IDPGuru.com. In this article, I will discuss a few players whose fantasy value has either gone up or down depending on their performance, role changes, injury concerns, etc. from the previous week. I will try to get this article out every Tuesday for your reading pleasure.

Stock Up

WR – Mathew Slater – (NE) – Yup a WR. Slater is not worth grabbing and will probably not be able to score you any fantasy points, due to his WR position in pretty much all leagues. Slater did have a solid game, as an IDP, this past week against the Colts. His 7 tackles lead the Patriots plus he had a forced fumble. Like I said, don’t add him, unless he has a few more games like this and you can get those points in your league.

RLB – D.J. Williams – (DEN) – Williams play has contributed to the Bronco’s winning games as much as Tebow has. Williams has 36 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in his last four games. He is as solid as they come at the linebacker position. LB1-

SS – Eric Smith – (NYJ) – Smith is a poor man’s Polamalu. He is usually in on every play and brings a thud when he gets there. He has 25 tackles in his last four games. He’s not going to wow you with a bunch of INTs or Sacks, but he is a very consistent tackler. DB3+

SS – James Sanders – (ATL) – I still do not understand why New England let him walk. He has 24 tackles in his last four games and has been in a back-up role in Atlanta. I’m sure New England fans would like to have him back. DB3

RILB – Lawrence Timmons – (PIT) – In his last two games, Timmons has looked like the guy most of us drafted. He racked up 16 tackles in those two games. This may be too little too late for owners who gave up on him weeks ago. LB3

Stock Down

LDE – Brian Robison – (MIN) – Robison has slowed down from his early season success. His 11 tackles and 1 sack in his last four games is evidence of his decline. Robison may still be worth a match up right start. Other than that keep him on your bench on in waivers. DL4

ROLB – Brian Orakpo – (WAS) – Orakpo should go back to sacking the QB and get away from the caveman commercials. His game is the only thing that has been extinct. In his last four games he has 16 tackles and a half a sack. Not the kind of numbers he was putting up earlier in the season. This may be part his fault and partly the Redskins being behind in games and teams running the ball more against him. LB4

LCB – Prince Amukamara – (NYG) – The rookie had a great first game but, he had to play the last two games and he hasn’t shown up. He is playing a back up role, so maybe I expect more than he can produce at this point. Probably a better player in dynasty leagues or keeper leagues. DB4

LOLB – Ahmad Brooks – (SF) – Brooks has slowed down the last four games, he has 10 tackles in that span, and only 36 on the year. There is better option on your waiver wire. LB4
