2011 IDP Stockwatch: Week 9

Written By: Bill Edwards

Hello and welcome to this season-long series for IDPGuru.com. In this article, I will discuss a few players whose fantasy value has either gone up or down depending on their performance, role changes, injury concerns, etc. from the previous week. I will try to get this article out every Tuesday for your reading pleasure.

Stock Up

RLB – Michael Boley – (NYG) – Boley has been steady this season with a total of 46 tackles in 7 games. He has been better the last 4 games racking up 30 of his tackles. Boley has no pressure behind him and should remain a LB3 going forward. Look for him to finish the season with just over 100 tackles.

SS – Dawan Landry – (JAC) –
Landry is a solid a safety as they come in the NFL. He has 53 tackles in 8 games, an average of 6.6 tackles per game. Playing in Jacksonville doesn’t hurt either. Jacksonville will be behind in most games and teams will become run first against them to run out the clock. Landry will continue as a DB3+.

SS – Bernard Pollard – (BAL) – The injury to Tom Zbikowski opened the door for Pollard and he has been solid since returning to the starting lineup. Pollard has been averaging 5 tackles per game the last 3 games along with a sack, 2 forced fumbles and 4 passes defended. Pollard is a DB3 for the rest of the season.

FS – Malcolm Jenkins – (NO) – Jenkins has had 6 tackles in 3 of his last 4 games and has an average of 5 tackles per game this season. Jenkins also has a sack, a forced fumble and 5 passes defended. Jenkins will benefit from teams being behind and needing to throw. Look for him to be a DB3 moving forward.

SS – David Caldwell – (IND) – Caldwell had 9 tackles in their loss to Tennessee last week. He looks like the only guy going hard all the time. It probably has to do with being an undrafted rookie. He has averaged close to 6 tackles per game over the last 4 games. DB3

Stock Down

LDE – Greg Hardy – (CAR) – Hardy has 6 tackles and zero sacks over the last 3 games. He is still a solid option just has been down the last few weeks. Look for him to rebound after this week’s bye. DL2

RILB – Sean Lee – (DAL) –
Lee is a stud, but he dislocated his wrist against the Eagles last week. Brian Urlacher has a similar injury a few years ago and was done for the year. Lee says he wants to put a cast on and play in week 9. His rest of year value takes a hit. LB2

LDE – Juqua Parker – (PHI) –
Parker has been steady the last two seasons. The additions of Babin and Jenkins seemed to have really slowed his production down. Parker has 2 tackles in the last 3 games, 4 in the last 5 games. DL4-

SS – Brian Dawkins – (DEN) –
Dawkins is in his 15th season. He has been up and down the last 4 games recording 0, 5, 0, and 6 tackles. He has 27 on the year. Denver has been dismal against the run and is a poor offensive team. Dawkins has been a solid option his entire career but, his career is coming to an end and so is his fantasy relevance. DB4

FS – Atari Bigby – (SEA) –
Bigby has 7 tackles in his last 4 games. He is firmly planted behind Earl Thomas at the free safety position. Bigby would need an injury to even inch toward having some fantasy value. He is best on the waiver wire. DB5
