2011 IDP Stockwatch: Week 13

Written By: Bill Edwards

Hello and welcome to this season-long series for IDPGuru.com. In this article, I will discuss a few players whose fantasy value has either gone up or down depending on their performance, role changes, injury concerns, etc. from the previous week. I will try to get this article out every Tuesday for your reading pleasure.

Stock Up

RILB – Sean Lee – (DAL) – Lee had surgery on his wrist 4 weeks ago and has already returned to form. Lee has put up 21 tackles and a sack in his last three games. Lee has been solid for the Cowboys this season and should remain a force down the stretch. LB2+

RILB – Sean Weatherspoon – (ATL) – Weatherspoon’s 29 tackles over his last four games has been on par with his season average of 8.8 tackles per game. Weatherspoon also will grab a sack here and there. Solid option as a LB2+

RCB – Ronde Barber – (TB) –
Barber is still playing at a high level even in his 14th season. Barber’s 27 tackles, 1 INT, and 1 forced fumble in his last four games has him moving up this week to a DB3- going forward.

ROLB – Connor Barwin – (HOU) – Barwin may have had a flash in the pan game last week against the Jaguars, but 10 tackles and four sacks is nothing to take lightly. Barwin may be a boom or bust each week, but could be a great stash in a keeper league. LB3-

RILB – Perry Riley – (WAS) – Riley has had some playing time the last 3 weeks and has taken advantage of his opportunity. He has 34 tackles in those three games after only recording 1 tackle the first 9 weeks. He is an unproven player in the NFL, but has shown he has some potential when given some reps. LB3-

Stock Down

DT – Ndamukong Suh – (DET) – Suh has been suspended for 2 games by Mr. Goddell. Usually I do not agree with his suspensions and fines. This time however I applaud him. Suh is a disruptive force on the field but he is too emotional and has let those emotions get the better of him. Hopefully this is his last “episode”. His numbers haven’t been very impressive this season so maybe this will be a good chance to see how Nick Fairly does. DL3

SS – Ed Reed – (BAL) – Reed is a great free safety, but he only has 12 tackles and 1 INT in his last four games. Pollard during the same stretch has had 32 tackles and an INT. Reed has been in the league a long time and may finally be showing his age. It is hard to go against him but he may be deserving of your bench and maybe the waiver wire in shallow leagues. DB3-

SS – Troy Polamalu – (PIT) –
Polamalu left last week’s game with concussion like symptoms. Mike Tomlin has said Polamalu will practice this week and should play. I have some concern for a player like Polamalu, who also left a game October 16th with concussion-like symptoms. His play has still been good when on the field. I would make sure you have a good back up plan for him entering your league’s playoffs. DB2

RDE – Osi Umenyiora – (NYG) –
Osi has had an up and down season. He is in a wicked down swing the last four games. His 11 tackles and 1 sack over that span will move him down this week to a DL3. He still has plenty of potential, to go along with his fragile teammates JPP and Justin Tuck. Osi is still worth a spot on your team and a good situational start in deep leagues.
