2011 IDP Infirmary: Week 6

Written By: Eric Olinger

So, who got burnt by not playing Julius Peppers last week? A guy that was listed as “Doubtful” decides to not only play, but play LIGHTS OUT! Unfortunately, due to the late night kickoff many of us missed out on his beastly performance. The good news is he came out of the game no worse for the wear.

Shawn Merriman- Buffalo Bills- OLB-  BYE
Merriman’s Achilles flared up again last week and he decided to shut it down until after the BYE week. As we’ve seen with Jon Beason already this year, coming back from an Achilles too early leads to very bad things.
Rey Maualuga- Cincinnati Bengals- MLB- BYE
Maualuga had an MRI done on his ankle after the game and revealed a lateral sprain. It sounds like he avoided the dreaded high ankle sprain so expect him back after the team’s BYE.
Joe Haden- Cleveland Browns- CB- Doubtful
It doesn’t look good for Haden suiting up this week while dealing with his knee sprain.
Morgan Burnett- Green Bay Packers- FS- Will Play
Even though he has a broken hand and a club-like cast, Burnett proved last week he can VERY effectively play with the injury. He will continue to not miss any time.
Justin Tuck- NY Giants- DE- Questionable
Coming back from his neck injury, Tuck declared he will play next week against Miami.
Julius Peppers- DE- Chicago Bears- DE- Questionable
After last week’s burn job, who isn’t going to play him? The good news is Chicago plays the early game this week, so we’ll be able to plug him in.

Thanks to BYE weeks and a bit of good luck, the IDP side of things didn’t have too bad of an injury outbreak for this week. Keep your fingers crossed that it wasn’t the calm before the storm!
