Written By: Johnny Davis

Hello and welcome everyone to the 7th weekly installment of “IDP Game Notes” brought to you by IDP Guru staff writer, Johnny Davis. This column is quickly turning into one of the most comprehensive, all-encompassing IDP articles anywhere. And it’s free!

Broncos @ Dolphins

– Denver WLB D.J. Williams (3-2, FF, fumble recovery, 1 sack) cooled off in the tackle department but made up for it in other areas. Fourth LB Wesley Woodyard (4-1) has not done much for his owners since Williams’ return to the lineup. CB Jonathan Wilhite (10-1) came back strong from injury. SLB Von Miller (3-2, 1 sack) is good for a sack per game. Grizzled SS Brian Dawkins (4-1, 2 sacks) made quite an impact. DEs Elvis Dumervil (ankle) and Robert Ayers (knee) left early with injuries.
– Miami SS Yeremiah Bell (6-1, fumble recovery, 1 sack) is having a great season. ILB Karlos Dansby (8-5, PD) had the kind of game his fantasy owners wish he would have more consistently. OLB Cameron Wake (4-0, 2 sacks, PD) got back to his QB-crushing ways. With top two free safeties Reshad Jones and Chris Clemons injured, Tyrone Culver (3-0, FF) failed to wow anyone.
Chargers @ Jets
– New York FS Eric Smith (8-2) came back strong after a down game. Rookie DE Muhammad Wilkerson (3-2, PD) made a little noise. Pretty much every other Jets’ noteable dropped a stinkbomb from a fantasy perspective: ILB Bart Scott (2-1), SS Jim Leonhard (2-1), and ILB David Harris (2-1).
– San Diego ILB Donald Butler (6-3, FF, 37-yd fumble recovery TD) got a fluke TD, but he’s also quietly having a good season. FS Eric Weddle (5-1, int, PD) just has a nose for the ball. OLB Shaun Phillips (4-2, 2 sacks) had by far his best game of the season. You could do worse than DT Antonio Garay (4-2).
Seahawks @ Browns
– Luckily, Cleveland MLB D’Qwell Jackson (4-1, fumble recovery) doesn’t have to play against the Seahawks very often because they killed his hot streak. SS T.J. Ward (5-2, FF, 1 sack, PD) is looking more like the guy who received all that preseason IDP hype. Rookie DE Jabaal Sheard (2-1, .5 sack) continues to show promise. DT Ahtyba Rubin (3-2, .5 sack) is a viable option.
– Seattle MLB David Hawthorne (7-4, int, 1 sack, PD) had a breakthrough performance. WLB Leroy Hill (7-1) is having a great season. SS Kam Chancellor (7-1, 1 sack, PD) left the game with a knee injury, but not before showing once again he’s a top-tier DB when healthy. DE Chris Clemons (4-0, 2 sacks) had his second two-sack game of the season. SLB K.J. Wright (6-1) filled in for the departed Aaron Curry. FS Earl Thomas (5-0, PD) deserves a mention.
Texans @ Titans
– Houston ILB Brian Cushing (5-1, PD) is good but not great. Rookie DE J.J. Watt (3-0, 1 sack) is capable of making noise. OLB Brooks Reed (4-0, 1 sack) is filling the Mario Williams role. FS Danieal Manning (1-0, int, PD) went down with a broken leg; Troy Nolan (2-0) will fill his spot. Injuries are slowing ILB DeMeco Ryans (0-0) and reducing his snap count.
– If you’ve been riding Tennessee FS Jordan Babineaux (9-2), then you should hope Chris Hope never returns. CB Jason McCourty (8-4) is consistently posting outstanding tackle numbers. MLB Barrett Ruud (8-2) seems to have found his groove.
Falcons @ Lions
– Atlanta MLB Curtis Lofton (5-5) and WLB Sean Weatherspoon (5-1, 1 sack, PD) consistently get the job done. DE Ray Edwards (3-0) could be worse. DT Corey Peters (3-0, 1 sack, 2 PD) has been scoring well lately.
– Detroit WLB Deandre Levy (6-5) has had four straight games with good tackle numbers. DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (0-2) is an inconsistent scorer and weak in the tackle department. SLB Justin Durant (2-2, PD) returned from injury. DT Ndamukong Suh (4-1, 1 sack) and FS Louis Delmas (6-2, PD) had their best games of the season. DE Cliff Avril (1-0, 1 sack) gets a sack every other game. MLB Stephen Tulloch (2-4) has cooled off since teasing with a 10-solo week 4. SS Amari Spievey (6-0, int, PD) deserves a nod. CB Chris Houston (4-1) left after taking a knee to the spine (ouch!).
Bears @ Bucs (played in London)
– If you’re looking for tackles, look no further than Chicago CB Charles Tillman (9-1, PD). This was his third straight game with eight or more solos. MLB Brian Urlacher (3-2, int, PD) is going to score you fantasy points somehow. WLB Lance Briggs (5-1, int, PD) had a good game but a far cry from his two-straight 10-solo games earlier in the season. DE Julius Peppers (2-0) was pretty quiet.
– Tampa Bay SS Sean Jones (7-1) has been up and down, but he can post good tackle numbers sometimes. FS Tanard Jackson (1-0, int, PD) left the game with a hamstring injury. MLB Mason Foster (0-0) continues to be bothered by an ankle injury. CB Ronde Barber (5-0, 3 PD, sack, safety) had a huge day.

Redskins @ Panthers
– Carolina SLB James Anderson (10-2, fumble recovery, 1 sack, PD) is on fire. MLB Dan Connor (8-2) had his best game of the season. SS Charles Godfrey (5-0) has cooled off since teasing with nine solos in week 5. DE Greg Hardy (1-1, PD) is feast or famine. DE Charles Johnson (1-0, 1 sack) will find his way to the QB about once a game.
– Washington ILB London Fletcher (7-2) was racking up tackle numbers of yesteryear before leaving with a hamstring injury. Reed Doughty (7-1, FF) shined with starting FS O.J. Atogwe out with a knee injury. SS LaRon Landry (4-3, .5 sack) had an acceptable game. Rookie OLB Ryan Kerrigan (1-1) has cooled after a hot start to the season. The other LBs made an impact: ILB Rocky McIntosh (5-2) and OLB Brian Orakpo (5-1, 1 sack).
Chiefs @ Raiders
– Kansas City ILB Derrick Johnson (12-1) more than doubled his tackles-per-game average. OLB Tamba Hali (0-1) has soiled himself in two straight games. Everyone in the secondary was around the ball like a ghost around Pac-Man: SS Jon McGraw (5-1, PD, int), third safety Sab Piscitelli (4-0, FF), CB Brandon Flowers (3-0, 2 int, 3 PD, 58-yd int return TD), and FS Kendrick Lewis (3-2, PD, 59-yd int return TD). Lewis also left with an ankle injury.
– Oakland MLB Rolando McClain (1-1) left with an ankle injury. SS Tyvon Branch (3-6) saw a dip in his solo numbers. Out of nowhere, CB Stanford Routt (9-1, PD) had a bunch of tackles. DT Richard Seymour (1-0) has been nonexistent the last two games. FS Michael Huff (2-1) played but didn’t do much statistically.
Steelers @ Cardinals
– Pittsburgh OLB Lawrence Timmons (3-0) has been one of the biggest IDP busts of the season. Meanwhile, OLB Lamarr Woodley (6-1, 2 sacks) is absolutely on fire. SS Troy Polamalu (1-2) had his worst game of the season. DE Brett Keisel (2-0) fell back down to Earth after a huge week 6. FS Ryan Clark (4-0, int, PD) is having a decent season.
– Arizona DE Calais Campbell (2-0) looked mortal. CB Richard Marshall (8-0, PD) had his best game of the season. Rookie CB Patrick Peterson (7-0) continues to show value. ILB Daryl Washington (7-0) had his highest solo number of the year.
Rams @ Cowboys
– Dallas ILB Sean Lee (2-2) had a surprisingly quiet game. OLB Demarcus Ware (3-0, FF, 1 sack, PD) is having a good season. SS Abram Elam (7-1, FF, fumble recovery) doesn’t usually post those kinds of numbers.
– St. Louis FS Quintin Mikell (8-2, FF) had an excellent game. It looks like Darian Stewart (5-0) is winning the SS battle over Craig Dahl (1-0). MLB James Laurinaitis (4-4) isn’t quite as beastly as we’d like him. I hope you haven’t been holding your breath for that DE Chris Long (0-1) breakout. DE James Hall (3-0, 1 sack) is playing some noteworthy ball.
Packers @ Vikings
– Green Bay CB Charles Woodson (3-1, 2 int, 3 PD) had the kind of game that keeps him as a fantasy option. SS Charlie Peprah (7-0) has been posting good tackle numbers since taking over at SS. FS Morgan Burnett (3-0) didn’t do so well in this game. OLB Clay Matthews (4-2, 1 sack, PD) needs to post more games like this if he wants to be in the fantasy conversation. ILB Desmond Bishop (6-2) just keeps on tackling.
– Minnesota DE Jared Allen (3-3, 2 sacks) is as good as they come. SLB Chad Greenway (5-6) continues to make an impact. CB Asher Allen (9-2) had good numbers out of nowhere. Unfortunately for DE Brian Robison (2-0) owners, you don’t get fantasy points for kicks to the groin. CB Antoine Winfield (neck) and SS Jamarca Sanford (concussion) missed the game.
Colts @ Saints
– New Orleans SS Roman Harper (2-1) left early with a head injury. DE Will Smith (0-1) has been useless the last two games. MLB Jonathan Vilma (1-3, fumble recovery) is barely more useful.
– Indy FS Antoine Bethea (7-4) is having a great fantasy season. MLB Pat Angerer (2-5) had his worst game of the season. DE Robert Mathis (1-0) has been quiet the last couple of games.
Ravens @ Jaguars
– Jacksonville MLB Paul Posluszny (4-0) disappointed after three straight monster games. SLB Daryl Smith (6-0, FF, 1 sack) is having a great season. DE Jeremy Mincey (3-0, FF, 1 sack) looks like a strong fantasy option. FS Dawan Landry (5-1) is a decent option.

– Baltimore SS Bernard Pollard (5-0, 2 FF, PD) has been thriving with the starting role. ILB Ray Lewis (6-2, PD) is relentless. DE/OLB Terrell Suggs (4-1, 1 sack) got back on track. DT Haloti Ngata (1-2, 1 sack) has a sack in three straight games. DT Terrence Cody (4-2) has been making use of playing time. CB Lardarius Webb (0-2) and FS Ed Reed (2-0) had down games.
