2011 IDP Infirmary: Week 2

Written By: Eric Olinger

For the record, I could not find an “Injury Update” on the 2 Giants defenders who fell to the ground “injured” just before halftime. Hopefully ESPN and NFL Network finds something else to talk about soon. Getting tired of seeing it played over and over again.

Thomas Davis- LB- Panthers
For the 3rd consecutive year, Davis tore is ACL. It is fair to say you will probably never see him in an NFL game again. Tough break.
Major Wright- S- Bears
Originally thought to be a concussion, is now being called a “stiff neck”. He’s fine.
Terrence Newman- CB- Cowboys
Aggravated a groin injury. Not sure if he’ll play this week, but the extra day should help since they play on Monday.
Nick Collins- S- Packers
In what might be the most serious of the Week 2 injuries, Nick Collins fractured two bones in his neck and will miss the rest of the season.
Jonathan Joseph- CB- Texans
Joseph left Sunday’s game with a foot injury and did not practice on Monday. He’s still expected to play this Sunday. Any missed time by Joseph would be a huge blow to the revamped Houston D going up against the fast and furious Saints offense.
DeMeco Ryans- LB- Texans
Coach Kubiak said he was subbed more than usual due to an elbow injury and not because of his Achilles. Either way, this guy isn’t 100% and is not producing fantasy-wise.
Aaron Kampman- DE- Jaguars
Uh oh. Already been ruled out for this weeks game vs Carolina. Coming off an ACL injury at his age isn’t easy. He probably won’t be 100% all year…if ever.
Karlos Dansby- LB- Dolphins
Coach Sparano has already expressed public concern over his groin injury, which is never a good sign considering coaches are eternal optimists. Don’t expect to see an effective Dansby out on the field this week.
Randy Starks- DE- Dolphns
Starks is dealing with an “upper leg injury”, more than likely a hammy or groin. Considered Questionable for this weeks game.
Osi Umenyiora- DE- Giants
Still unlikely to play in week 3.
Juqua Parker- DE- Eagles
The dreaded High Ankle Sprain. Likely to miss 2 weeks.
QuincyBlack- LB- Buccaneers
Left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. No word yet if it is a high ankle sprain. This injury is super important to Mason Foster owners as Foster was the main beneficiary of Black’s absence. If Black misses time Foster will continue to be a 3-down LB.
LaRon Landry- S- Redskins
It looks like we might actually see Landry return to the field against Dallas on Monday. The Redskins have been very careful with the All-Pro SS since injuring his Achilles in Week 10 of last year.
