Current Team:
New Orleans Saints
Defensive Scheme: 4-3, some 3-4 looks
2009 Fantasy Positional Finish (My Scoring System): DL21
ADP (Junkyard Jake): DL31
My Current Ranking: DL19

2010 Outlook: (Alex) James Brown has never been a flashy player or produced huge numbers. However, over his eight seasons in the league, he has managed to establish himself as one of the most consistent linemen in the league. While he was with the Bears from 2002-2009, you could pretty much bank on getting 5-7 sacks and 50 total tackles out of Brown. Doesn’t sound like much, but those type of numbers made him close to a top 20 lineman in my scoring system last season.

Brown is now with a new team, the New Orleans Saints. With this new team comes an improved defensive line. The Saints have Will “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit’ It” Smith and his 49 career sacks playing opposite of Brown. They also have former 7th overall pick Sedrick Ellis taking up space in the middle. Brown find himself in a situation to have a career year at the age of 31.

As witnessed by his ADP (DL31), Brown isn’t on the radar of too many fantasy owners this season. He is currently being drafted a full 12 spots below where I have him ranked him ranked at his respective position. This means that in most leagues you can get away with drafting Brown as a DL 27 or 28, even though you have him valued at DL19. This is good value. This is the type of stuff that goes a long way in winning fantasy football championships.

Brown is durable, dependable, and consistent. He should be one of the safest picks in the draft.

2010 Projected Stats: 4o solo tackles, 15 assists, 8 sacks
