Current Team:
Buffalo Bills
Defensive Scheme: 3-4 (1 gap)
2009 Fantasy Positional Finish (My Scoring System): LB14 (only played 12 games)
ADP (Junkyard Jake): LB7
My Current Ranking: LB3

2010 Outlook: Posluszny finished as the 14th ranked linebacker in my scoring system last season even though he only played 12 games. The Bills’ change in defensive scheme from a 4-3 to a 3-4 (1 gap) system shouldn’t affect his value much at all. The 1 gap system is used in many of the same ways as a typical 4-3 scheme. Posluszny has the size (6’2″, 238 lbs.) to be effective in this type of system (i.e. he will be able to shed off blockers). He also won’t have a ton of competition for tackles within the front seven. The SILB or LILB position is likely to be filled by Andra Davis or Kawika Mitchell. Both are decent options at the position. Mitchell is better in coverage and produces a higher amount of big plays. However, Davis tends to be stronger against the run. However, neither one of these players will put up enough tackles to seriously hinder Posluszny’s stats. NT Kyle Williams will be the only viable fantasy option on the defensive line and could produce pretty nice tackle numbers, but once again won’t take away from Posluszny’s production.

P-squared will be used in similar fashion to how Zach Thomas was used in his time with the Dolphins a few years back; he will be a covered WILB in a pursuit role on 3-4 downs, and a traditional 4-3 MLB on the downs in which the Bills use the 4-3.

Posluszny is currently about the 7th linebacker taken off the board. Which I think is great value. He would have been a top 5 linebacker in my scoring system if he had played all 16 games and I don’t see any reason why his numbers would drop from last season. If anything they should go up since the Bills’ defense is going to be on the field a ton in 2010. He’s definitely a guy I will be targeting hard in my IDP drafts.

2010 Projected Stats: 116 solo tackles, 32 assists, 1 sack
